Reducing Bloating & Gas

Are you noticing you’re often bloated after eating? Feeling gas pain and discomfort? Maybe IBS is an issue for you?

Here are 5 tips to help reduce bloating and gas, so you can feel confident eating again!

ONE

Start your day with lemon water or ACV

If you’ve Having a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar or lemon juice in warm water when you wake up helps to stimulate digestion and also supports healthy liver function.

TWO

Move your body

Get your body moving! Some people get up early and head to the gym for a workout, or got to the ocean to swim, and this is a great way to start the day. Even taking a brisk walk around your neighbourhood before breakfast will help keep things moving on the inside if you know what I mean!

THREE

Reduce your sugar intake

Sugar disrupts the healthy balance of bacteria and microbes in your gut. Cutting back on sugar, and especially avoid fizzy drinks and overly processed foods which contain high amounts of sugar, will give your body a chance to develop a healthy gut microbiome.

FOUR

Test for allergies & pathogens

Sometimes allergies can be a factor contributing to your bloating. When you come in for a consult, we can complete a simple test for any food allergies that might be affecting your digestion. Book a Quantum Analysis consultation and you’ll get results almost immediately, that we can then determine the best treatment plan for you.

In the meantime, you can also try eliminating wheat and/or dairy from your diet for a period of time (at least 2 weeks) and see if you notice any changes. Keeping a diary of the foods you eat and any pain, bloating or discomfort you notice can also be helpful.

FIVE

Practice mindfulness around eating

In our modern, busy lives we can find ourselves quickly grabbing something to eat on the way out the door, or finishing a meal while watching TV or socialising and not even remember eating it! When you practice mindfulness around eating, which basically means bringing attention to what you are eating and how you feel, means you’ll notice when your body feels full, or when a particular food isn't ‘agreeing’ with you. Also, remember to chew your food well when you’re in a relaxed environment. Mindfulness provides an opportunity for you to collect more information and then make choices about what, when and how you eat, which will help you feel more satisfied and avoid feeling bloated and in pain.

Most people eat out of habit or mindlessly munch away on things, so it's definitely a practice to bring more mindfulness to your food!

If you’re struggling to get on top of bloating, IBS or any other digestive issues, including auto-immune conditions like Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s disease, come in for a consult and discover a new approach that looks beyond the symptoms of the disease.
